Violence broke out in Paris during the first rally for far-right presidential candidate Eric Zemmour.

Tensions were high as the former journalist arrived at the venue, as voters from across the political spectrum gathered.

As Zemmour arrived, he was set upon by a mob of angry protesters, one of whom managed to grab him by the neck.

Later, anti-racism activists were attacked by Zemmour’s far-right supporters as they entered the venue.
