France: Thousands march in Paris for weekly Yellow Vest protest

Thousands of protesters marched against mandatory vaccination, COVID-19 restrictions, and the current government, during a rally in Paris on Saturday.

Some minor scuffles broke out between police and protesters once the march had reached it’s destination.

The French health pass system from Saturday also requires that people have had a booster dose for the certificate to work.

“I am against this vaccine pass, I am against mass vaccination, everyone must be free to choose,” stated Stephanie, a protester.

The health pass proves that a person is vaccinated, recovered from the virus or has a negative test within the previous 24 hours. The system is used for residents to gain entry to bars, cafes, cinemas, tourist sites and some public transport.

Several similar protest marches were held in other French cities throughout the day.

SOT, Stephanie, Yellow Vest protester (French): “I am against this vaccine pass, I am against mass vaccination, everyone must be free to choose, but I believe that we arrive in dictatorship from the moment we no longer have a choice and we are in the obligation to be vaccinated in order to live.”

SOT, Veronique, Yellow Vest Protester (French): “I don’t understand this vaccination obligation, it just looks like a vaccinocracy. It no longer makes any health sense, I don’t see how it protects us.”
