About 200 people gathered Monday evening in front of the German Foreign Office headquarters in Berlin to demand the government to establish airlifts in Afghanistan to evacuate those fleeing the country as the Taliban seizes power.
“We have enough aeroplanes, we have enough gasoline, we have everything needed. The only thing missing is the willingness to save human lives apart from your own ass,” a protester told the crowd.
The German government says it plans to evacuate about 10,000 people from Kabul, including local forces who have worked with the German army. Berlin has signalled it could take in refugees from Afghanistan, but at present, no evacuation flights were planned to BER airport, according to the German capital’s Interior Senator Andreas Geisel.

SOT, Miriam, Activist of NGO ‘We’ll get it done’ (German): “[..] Falling to death, because they weren’t evacuated early enough. We have enough aeroplanes, we have enough gasoline, we have everything needed. The only thing missing is the willingness to save human lives apart from your own ass. Shame on this government and on this Foreign Minister.’‘
