Germany: Green candidate Baerbock calls for "new beginning" in Nuremberg rally

The chancellor candidate for Germany’s Green party Annalena Baerbock held a rally in central Nuremberg on Monday, as part of her nationwide political tour entitled ‘We are ready, because you are.’
“For this new beginning we are running as Greens, for this new beginning Robert Harbeck and I are standing as candidate for chancellor. Because I am deeply convinced that our country can do so much more and now it is time to get the best out of Germany,” said the co-chairperson of the Green party.
She added that Europe “can become the first continent that is climate neutral, we have the engineering skills, we have the companies, we have the science, we have the industry that has shown again and again what this country is capable of.”
Regarding foreign policy, Baerbock promised to defend Germany and the EU “against authoritarian regimes, be it those who want to invest in Europe like China or be it like Russia that attack our Eastern European friends and neighbours. This is our common Europe and we have a responsibility as a community of values and as a strong democracy.”
Baerbock had rallied previously in Bamberg, and will attend the next rally in Wurzburg on September 22, in the last ditches before the general election to be held on September 26.
