Germany: ISIS woman who let 5 y/o Yazidi girl die of thirst jailed for 10 years

A High Regional Court in Munich sentenced a German convert to Islam to ten years in prison on Monday with charges for letting a five-year-old Yazidi child die enslaved in Iraq.

The defendant, identified as Jennifer W, was found guilty of committing crimes against humanity through enslavement, as well as belonging to a foreign terrorist organisation.

“For the death of this girl, which was recognised as a crime against humanity resulting in death in the form of slavery, the court imposed a service sentence of nine years, and for the membership in a terrorist organisation, two years and six months, each resulting in total imprisonment of 10 years,“ stated Higher Regional Court spokesperson and judge Florian Gliwitzky.

The court ruled that the 30-year-old defendant did not intervene to stop the child from dying and left her chained in the blazing sun.

According to German prosecutors, W and her husband ‘acquired’ the child and her mother in 2015, and kept them as ‘salves’ in the then Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL) occupied Mosul in Iraq.

Her husband faces separate trial proceedings in Frankfurt, with a verdict due in November.
