Germany: Laschet addresses Institute for Economic Research on "new social contract"

Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leader and chancellor candidate Armin Laschet addressed the public as part of ‘Berlin talks’ on ‘a new social contract’, at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin on Tuesday.
“After the pandemic, we are experiencing a world where authoritarian systems have rather given the feeling - we can deal with the pandemic,” Laschet stressed, adding that also the liberal democratic systems need to prove to the world they are capable of doing it too.
Laschet also commented on the climate crisis, stressing that this problem has “the red tipping point in view that’s been specified in the natural sciences, but which need to be solved in such way, that the society doesn’t break apart over this question.”
