Germany: Merkel receives Italian President Mattarella at Chancellor's Office

German Chancellor Angela Merkel received Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the chancellor’s office in Berlin, on Tuesday.

Merkel was seen guiding Matarella through the building, showing the Italian president the gallery of former German chancellors, before the two met in the conference hall of the chancellor’s office.
Mattarella met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace on Monday.

During his visit to Berlin, the Italian leader attended a ceremony with Steinmeier at the Italian embassy in Berlin, awarding winning municipalities with the Presidents’ Award for Municipal Cooperation between Germany and Italy, which honours the twinning of cities between the two countries.
