Germany: One dead, at least 30 injured following regional train collision south of Munich

Two trains collided in Schaftlarn about 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Munich late on Monday.

According to local police, at least one person died and 30 were injured, with several seriously injured.

The two trains collided near Ebenhausen-Schaftlarn station. The cause of the collision is not yet known.

Several emergency vehicles, patrols and helicopters were deployed on scene with the rescue operation expected to last several hours through the night.
