Germany: Protesters rally against Russia's decision to close human rights organisation

Activists rallied in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin to protest against the case brought by Russian prosecutors attempting to close down the civil society organisation ‘Memorial International’ this Wednesday.

On Friday Moscow city court registered the case, accepting documents from General Prosecutors office against the organisation.

Members of Partnerverein Memorial Deutschland e.V. and other organisations such as Amnesty International and DRA gathered with placards in German and Russian.

Memorial is recognised as one of Russia’s oldest and most prominent civil society organisations that defends human rights and works to commemorate the victims of Soviet repression.
