Germany: Thousands rally in Hannover for evacuation of Afghans

Nearly 2,000 demonstrators gathered in Hannover, Wednesday, to demand the evacuation of people from Afghanistan as the Taliban takes over the country.

“We are against Taliban, we want to have rights. Women want to live normally, go to school. The Taliban are lying,” an activist said.

“We want right of asylum for the people who are in Afghanistan,” another protester told the crowd.
People could be marching the streets of the city centre holding Afghan flags.

TRANSLATIONS:

SOT, Activist (German): “We are against Taliban, we want to have rights. Women want to live normally, go to school. The Taliban are lying. At this time the Taliban called my family and ask if they have taken money and tell them to come back to work. We need support from Europe and America.”

SOT, Activist (German): “Because I don’t like the circumstances that are happening in Afghanistan or what the German government is doing to the people there, not helping them and leaving them in the lurch. I want to march in the streets for that.
