Germany: Weidel and Chrupalla confirmed as leaders of AfD"s parliamentary group in Berlin

Alternative for Germany’s Co-heads Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla have been confirmed as leaders of their parliamentary group at the Bundestag in Berlin on Thursday.
“We are immediately able to work, we want to develop a vision so that we will be able to form a coalition in 2025 or to be able to participate in coalition talks, this is our goal.,” Chrupalla said following the vote.
The AfD received 10.3 percent of votes in the German federal elections last week, down 2.3 percentage points from 2017.

SOT, Tino Chrupalla, Co-head of the AfD parliamentary group (German): “I am happy to announce that we already voted for the parliamentary group leaders Mrs. Dr. Alice Weidel and I. We received two thirds of the votes.”

That is why the strong results are good and we realised that we, especially in regards to the direct mandates, have gained ground in rural areas.’‘

And I honestly have to admit, that it is quite unfamiliar for me standing next to Mr. Chrupalla after the four years with Dr. Alexander Gauland. This is an interesting feeling.’‘

The strategical question for the parliamentary group is the strategical lineup in case the CDU becomes an opposition party. This is the main task for the AfD.’‘
