Germany: Anti-fascist protesters rally against AfD party on election day in Berlin

Anti-fascist protesters gathered opposite the tents of right-wing political party Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Berlin on Sunday, during the country’s federal elections.
Demonstrators could be seen holding signs denouncing fascism and the AfD party as police monitored.
At one point, the crowd raised their middle fingers towards the AfD tents situated across the road.
For the first time in 16 years, the election is taking place without the participation of the incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Social Democrat’s Olaf Scholz and the Christian Democratic Union’s Armin Laschet are neck-and-neck in the lead, according to the latest polls, with Scholz marginally ahead.
AfD candidates Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla currently sit in fourth place, behind the Green party’s Annalena Baerbock.
