Three police officers were left with light injuries after rescuing two injured drivers from burning vehicles.

The cars caught on fire following a collision on a Louisville interstate on Thursday morning.

The two drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police officers involved were treated for smoke inhalation after successfully rescuing the occupants of each vehicle.

Louisville Metro Police Department said the police officers and drivers are expected to make a full recovery.
