The church of Agios Nikolaos in the town of Sitia was destroyed by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake, which struck the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday.

The small church was reduced to rubble as seen in footage, after the powerful earthquake shook the island at around 11.24 local time (09.24 GMT). Its epicentre was 14 kilometres (8.7 miles) from Sitia, in the east of the island.

No injuries from the earthquake have yet been reported. Crete was struck by a magnitude 5.8 earthquake two weeks earlier, on September 27, which killed one person.
