Greece: Flooding wreaks havoc in North Evia following devastating wildfires

About 200 houses and properties were damaged on Northern Evia, as seen on Sunday, after ‘Athena’ storm hit the same area that was burnt by wildfires merely weeks ago.
Some roads were destroyed on Agia Anna beach, which is surrounded by burnt forest areas.
“We have been severely damaged, both from the floods and the wildfires. We hope to receive compensation in the future. We need a solution immediately,” a local said.
Around 100 people have been rescued from the floods since Saturday night, according to local reports.

SOT, Anna, Local tavern owner (Greek): “In August I was in a pretty bad psychological state because of the wildfire. I am a tavern owner so the tourist season was lost for us and now this. In the end I am going to be wandering alone on the streets here.”
