Athens police blocked access to the central Syntagma Square after a truck drove into the sidewalk outside the Parliament House on Monday.

The bomb squad is checking the vehicle, which contained on its side writing in Greek reading ‘The Turks govern Greece. Proof inside.’

Police detained the driver following the incident.

The ongoing dispute between Greece and Turkey involves control over territories in the eastern Mediterranean and related drilling rights to massive natural-gas deposits.
