Pope Francis was received in Athens on Saturday by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The pope was seen being greeted by the President and welcomed into the Presidential Palace before sitting down with both Sakellaropoulou and Mitsotakis.

The visit marks the second part of a five-day trip to Cyprus and Greece.

Pope Francis is the second Catholic leader to visit Greece in the last twenty years. His trip to the region is an attempt to foster further collaboration between the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches.
