Crowds marched behind G9 group leader Jimmy Cherisier during a rally to demand justice for murdered Haitian President Jovenel Moise in Port-au-Prince, Monday.

Cherisier, alias ‘Barbecue,’ wearing a white suit and black tie, led the march with a large portrait of Moise and a wreath.

Cherisier addressed the crowd, “Today we choose the place where Jean Jacques Dessalines was assassinated to lay the flowers and the photo of Jovenel Moise because these two people were assassinated for the same cause.”

The march ended with a ceremonial performance around a bonfire and mourners lighting candles in front of the portrait of Moise.

Moise was shot at his private residence in the suburb of the Haitian capital on July 7. According to Haitian police, the crime was carried out by 28 people, consisting of 26 Colombian nationals and two Haitian Americans.
