Haiti: Ariel Henry assumes PM post in Port-au-Prince

Ariel Henry assumed the post of prime minister in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, two weeks after the assassination of Haitian president Jovenel Moise.

Henry had been directed by Moise to take on the role of prime minister in the days running up to his assassination, however, Henry’s lack of formal appointment for the role following the attack left an unclear political situation at a time of turmoil.

The former president’s funeral is set to take place on Friday and is expected to be attended by his widow, Martine Moise, who was injured during the deadly attack and treated in Miami.
