Haiti: Memorial service for killed president Moise held in Port-au-Prince

Ariel Henry attended a memorial ceremony for assassinated Haitian president Jovenel Moise before assuming post as Haiti’s new prime minister later the same day, in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday.

Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph gave a speech at the event: “This is a time of a very painful emotion and sadness, on behalf of the interim government which I have the distinct honor to lead until the present moment, I bring to the mortal remains of the president of the Republic, His Excellency Jovenel Moise the tributes of sincere regret and fair recognition.”

The former president’s funeral is set to take place on Friday and is expected to be attended by his widow, Martine Moise, who was injured during the deadly attack and treated in Miami.
