Wildfires across Europe are ruining tourists’ holidays, as flames begin to reach popular resorts, including in France, Italy and Croatia.

But the Algarve in Portugal has been the worst-hit, with holidaymakers watching fires encroach their homes, including that of Dragon’s Den judge Duncan Bannatyne.

One tourist captured the smoke billowing over a beach filled with empty sun beds, as planes battling the nearby flames dipped into the sea to collect water.
