People gathered in Tehran on Thursday for a ‘Dey 9’ pro-government rally.

The Dey 9 protests refer to a series of pro-government rallies in 2009, which took place on the ninth day of the month of ‘Dey’ in the Persian calendar.

The date has been marked every year since, apart from a few cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rallies and their counter-demonstrations were originally connected to the disputed 2009 Iranian presidential election.​

The enemy that once faced the Palestinian children’s stones, today has been humiliated by the powerful and long-range missiles of the Islamic Revolutionary Front. You are victorious.”

SOT, Iranian protester (Farsi): “We came here to show that not only you, but no one else can suppress Iran’s authority.”

SOT, Tayebi, Iranian protester (Farsi): “I think that really after all these years and after all these betrayals and sabotages that the United States and Europe and all the superpowers did against our country, we have not been and are not optimistic about these negotiations. According to the Supreme Leader’s statements, I think that if someone has a little wisdom, s/he should not be dependent on these negotiations and on these countries, in a way s/he would want to trust their plans.”

SOT, Iranian protester (Farsi): “People came to support our leadership and our national identity and the identity of our revolution on such a day, and to declare that we consciously support our revolution.”
