Iran: Tehran holds official event to celebrate 100 millionth COVID vaccine dose administered

An event was held in the Iran University of Medical Sciences to celebrate 100 million COVID vaccine doses administered in Tehran on Sunday.

“To date, we have been able to inject 85 percent of people with a single dose. In some provinces, 92 and 93 percent of people have received the single dose of the vaccine, which is unique in the world,” said health minister Bahram Einollahi.

According to the latest figures, over 50 percent of Iran’s population of 83 million are fully vaccinated.

In some provinces, 92% and 93% of people have received the single dose of the vaccine, which is unique in the world. And about 70 percent of people received two doses of the vaccine. Around 70% of the people have received two doses. This figure varies from province to province. In some provinces, this figure is up to 78%. And given the time between the first and second doses, we hope that the number of the second doses reaches that of the single doses injected, God willing. And about one million people received the third dose.”

SOT, Bahram Einollahi, Iranian Health Minister (Farsi): “We are one of the developed countries in the world in the production of vaccines, and we produce all types of vaccines in the country. And today we have about 20 million domestically produced, [we have had] about 170 million [vaccines]. Of those 170 million, about 105 million doses of the vaccine have been injected.”
