Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian welcomed Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Tehran on Monday before talking about his state’s view on the JCPOA negotiations in Vienna.

“We do not consider the interim agreement a good one for our country. The agreement must be comprehensive, it must be an agreement that Iran and the people can use the economic benefits of JCPOA and the lifting of sanctions in a tangible way,” said Amir-Abdollahian.

The Iranian FM also added that Iran’s diplomats look to negotiate the agreement further at the next scheduled meeting in Vienna.

Mekdad clarified that his visit was to deepen economic ties between the two nations, stating, “Syria is opening all of it’s economic activities for Iranian investments and to benefit from reconstruction in Syria.”
