Mohammad Eslami, Vice-President and the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI), gave an interview to the Iranian state TV on Sunday, revealing that Tehran had amassed more than 120kg of 20 percent enriched uranium, well above the level agreed to in the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed in Vienna.

“We have passed the number 120 [kilograms of enriched uranium]. It is more than that, that is, we are ahead of this and ahead of this program. And well, dear people know that they [western powers] were meant to give 20 percent [enriched] fuel to the Tehran reactor. But they did not. If our colleagues did not do it, naturally one of our problems was the lack of fuel for the Tehran reactor. The organization has exceeded that amount [120 kilograms]”, said Mohammad Eslami.

The IAEA and western countries are pressing Iran to keep with the commitments of 2015, whilst the US withdrew from it in 2018 and since has put up the pressure against Tehran with further sanctions.

SOT, Mohammad Eslami, Vice-President and the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI) (Farsi): “We have passed the number 120 [kilograms of enriched uranium]. Yes, it is more than that, that is, we are ahead of this and ahead of this program. And well, dear people know that they [western powers] were meant to give 20 percent [enriched] fuel to the Tehran reactor. But they did not. SOT, Mohammad Eslami, Vice-President and the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI) (Farsi): “It is good. This work is going on now. They did an exhausting job. According to the schedule, another year is needed. All equipment is supplied. Maps and testing processes are all provided. It only takes time for them to complete the operation so that they can reach the reactor starting day, and I hope that there will be no interruption and that they will be able to execute it within the time required by the program.”

SOT, Mohammad Eslami, Vice-President and the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI) (Farsi): “All their accusations are summed up in the fact that Iran wants to build an atomic bomb. One day they say Iran is close to it. One day they say Iran is far away from it. That is, the whole toy system is the plaything of the security system and is under the influence of the Zionists. Just this. This is their only excuse and their only accusation, and they based all their actions on this excuse.”

SOT, Mohammad Eslami, Vice-President and the Head of Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI) (Farsi): “We want to produce [uranium] silicide fuel to replace this type of 20 percent [enriched uranium] fuel that we do in Tehran reactor, which has a so-called higher efficiency.”
