Iran: Tehran’s Friday Prayers leader calls Europe not to sacrifice its interests to the US

A few days before the resumption of the Vienna talks centring on the Iran nuclear deal, Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, Tehran’s Provisional Friday Prayers leader, recommended European countries not to tie their interests to those of the US and Israel in his Friday prayers speech held in Tehran.

Maintaining that the US is weaker today in contrast to the decades ago, he added: “Leaders of European countries! Members of the P4+1! You are facing the US today which is not the same as the US two decades ago, the US three decades ago, the US half a century ago. The US failing policies in the Southwest Asian region are in front of the international community.”

Iran and six other powers will participate in talks in Vienna on November 29th to discuss whether to revive the 2015 nuclear deal from which previous US President Donald Trump withdrew. The aim of the talks will be to bring Iran back into the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Key to the discussions is expected to be the removal of sanctions on Iran currently imposed by the former Trump administration.
