Local residents in Dublin voiced their opinions towards the newly-implemented COVID regulations, which include a midnight curfew for bars and restaurants, on Thursday.
Venues and streets appeared to empty once the clock struck 00:00 (00:00 GMT), with hospitality establishments forced to close.
“I’m all for the rules but closing two hours early just doesn’t make any sense,” said one local resident.
Another resident spoke about the possibility of the country entering a second lockdown, stating, “Even if there’s another lockdown, I don’t think anyone’s going to agree with it.”
In addition to the curfew, COVID-19 passes will also now be required to enter cinemas and theatres.
The new rules come as the country experiences a rise in COVID-19 infections, with 3,632 new cases reported on November 17.
