Recent fires in Sicily have left a trail of significant damage on the island, as captured by a drone on Thursday.
Sicily is currently facing the ‘Lucifer’ heatwave, with authorities claiming a record 48.8 degree Celsius (119.8 degrees Fahrenheit) temperature reading on one part of the island on Wednesday.
The numbers, yet to be independently verified, are likely to have beat a heat record in Europe.
Drone showed damaged buildings and settlements encircled by burnt surroundings, in fire aftermath footage captured in the Province of Palermo.
Firefighters in both Sicily and the nearby region of Calabria tended to hundreds of fire incidents on the day of the record-breaking heat.
