Firefighters were battling several major fires outside Palermo on Sunday with blazes caused due to high temperatures.
According to Vigili del Fuoco, Italy’s national agency for fire and rescue service, 250 fire interventions were carried out across Sicily over the weekend.
The country is currently facing a significant heat wave with temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit) in Catania and Palermo.
