SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey (Turkish): “We expressed our regret about these support for these terrorist organisations in Syria, such as the PKK/PYD-YPG, especially regarding the support they receive from America, and the regrets that this has caused us as NATO member states for these support. We also said that there are steps to undermine our solidarity on these issues. In relation to these, we emphasised that our foreign ministers should be in much closer contact. We have brought up the relations of our defence ministers at this point. In the future, I believe that the process to date will not continue like this.”

SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey (Turkish): “The issue of Afghanistan, of course, came up, because the Afghan Karzai Airport was already our agenda during our Brussels meeting. But there have been developments where we have had to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan in particular. It was an expression that our meeting there didn’t go on the same way. But we also told them that the negotiations between Qatar and Turkey at the moment…what will be our roadmap in the future? We’ve evaluated them. However, some developments will determine the next process, such as Turkey-Qatar, which is currently on the roadmap… But we’ll also see how the Taliban behaves over time. Right now, the Taliban are negotiating with us and our embassy in Afghanistan. Time will tell what steps we will take during these negotiations. How will the embracing structure be formed in the new structure in Afghanistan? How will the understanding of education for women develop? Time will tell how much our sociological approach and the Taliban’s sociological approach will overlap. Accordingly, we will have taken our steps.”
