LIVE: CDU and Greens make statements following first round of exploratory talks in Berlin

Officials of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) and the Green Party are expected to hold statements following the first round of exploratory talks on a possible coalition between the parties in Berlin on Tuesday, October 5.

In the last week, the Green Party has held preliminary talks with the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Potential governing coalitions include the ‘Jamaica’ and the ‘traffic light’ coalitions. A ‘Jamaica’ coalition would be comprised of a Green Party, CDU/CSU and FDP governing majority, whereas the ‘traffic light’ coalition would be a Green Party, SPD and FDP majority.
