Ruptly is live from Berlin on Friday, October 1, as The Greens (Die Grunen) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) representatives are holding a meeting on a potential coalition following the German elections last Sunday.

The parties initiated talks on forming a government with a four-person meeting on Tuesday evening.

The gathering on Friday is expected to be held in a larger format. Over the weekend, FDP representatives are expected to meet their Christian Democratic Union (CDU)/ Christian Social Union (CSU) and Social Democratic Party (SPD) counterparts.

Potential governing coalitions include the ‘Jamaica’ and the ‘traffic light’ coalitions. A ‘Jamaica’ coalition would be comprised of a Green Party, CDU/CSU and FDP governing majority, whereas the ‘traffic light’ coalition would have the majority of the Green Party, SPD and FDP.
