LIVE: Day 2 of European Council summit in Brussels: press conference

President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen hold a press conference following the second day of the European Council summit in Brussels on Friday, October 22.

EU leaders are expected to discuss the recent surge in energy prices and assess measures that can be taken on both a national and a European level to address the impacts of this price increase. Such issues as migration, EU trade policy and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccination strategies, are also expected to be touched upon.

The European Council is also set to prepare for the COP26 meeting on climate change taking place in Glasgow on October 31-November 12, 2021.
