Ruptly is live from Melbourne on Saturday, January 15, as the court hearing on tennis star Novak Djokovic’s case takes place, a day before the Australian Open begins.

The hearing is set to start on Sunday, January 16, 09:30 Melbourne time (Saturday, 22:30 GMT).

Djokovic is currently in detention and faces being deported ahead of the tournament after his visa was canceled for the second time on Friday.

The player had traveled to Melbourne last week in order to play in the Australian Open tennis tournament but was initially barred from entering the country as he failed to meet the COVID-19 entry requirements due to being unvaccinated.

A judge decided earlier in the week that the star tennis player was not to be deported from Australia, allowing for his release from detention and the resumption of training, but after a decision made by the country’s Federal Immigration Minister, the visa was one again revoked.
