LIVE: La Palma volcano continues to erupt

Ruptly is live from La Palma in the Canary Islands on Tuesday, October 26, as the volcano in the La Cumbre Vieja area continues to erupt six weeks after the seismic activity started.

Partially destroying more than 2,000 buildings and covering more than 900 hectares of mostly farmland, lava continues to flow intensively. The eruptions prompted evacuations of more than 7,000 people from numerous villages.

New lava flows towards previously unaffected areas following the collapse of the Cumbre Vieja’s cone on Monday. Scientists have warned that the eruption could continue for weeks or even months.
