NASA is holding a press conference on Saturday, January 8, after the James Webb Space Telescope’s (JWST) final unfolding.

This marks the end of the deployment of the most powerful telescope ever sent to space. After completing the unprecedented process of unfolding in space, JWST started operating fully.

James Webb was launched into space on December 25 and has spent its time so far executing a complicated sequence of deployments to unfold the telescope to its final configuration.

JWST is a global project developed in cooperation between NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Canadian Space Agency. It is the world’s biggest and most powerful telescope, having taken around 20 years and 10 billion dollars to develop.
