Ruptly is live with a skyline view of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Saturday, August 14, as the Taliban continues to advance in the country following the withdrawal of US troops last month.

Recently, the Taliban gained control of two of Afghanistan’s biggest cities, Kandahar and Herat, a big military victory since the group began its offensive in May.

The offensive has been inching closer to Kabul. The Pentagon said it would send about 3,000 extra troops to help evacuate embassy staff.
