The United Nations Security Council is convening in New York City on Wednesday, October 26, to discuss Syria following the talks of the Syrian Constitutional Committee that took place in Geneva last week.

The UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen is set to give a briefing to the council.

Last week’s round of Syrian Constitutional Committee talks was held after a nine-month hiatus and ended in a ‘big disappointment’ according to Pedersen’s statement on Friday, ruining cautious hopes for progress in drafting the constitution. No new date has been set for the next meeting yet.
