Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador made a public statement from Mexico City on Tuesday, shortly after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit Acapulco.
“I am informing you about the earthquake, the epicenter was recorded in Acapulco, in Guerrero. Luckily there were no major damages: some stones, some fences fell. No damages were recorded in Oaxaca, no damages in Puebla, no big damages even in Mexico City,” confirmed Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck near the popular resort town of Acapulco late on Tuesday. Authorities were investigating for any structural damage or injuries.
“I spoke with the governors of Mexico City, Puebla, Oaxaca, Guerrero and all gave the same report, luckily at this stage we do not have information on lost or lives nor injuries,” the Mexican president went on to say.

General Sandoval, secretary of defence, reviewed the situation of all military sites, and he reported no serious damages.
