Mexico: Migrants push north as conditions worsen

A large group of migrants, mostly from Central America making their way northward to the United States were seen on Wednesday travelling from Huixtla to Villa Comatitlan in Mexico.
One woman was tended to on the side of the road after experiencing heat exhaustion as the journey becomes more difficult.
The caravan also came across a body of a deceased person upon arrival in the Villa Comatitlan. The man allegedly lost his life during the night.
As the caravan proceeds north through the country migration officers have been stalking the group and detaining migrants.

SOT, Jose Antonio, Migrant (Spanish): “Fainted people who can no longer walk who surrender better, but it is difficult, very difficult. How do the children come? I think they look good in the sun, and sitting down, they need a lot of water, crying that is what makes one sad, they come crying.”

SOT, Irineo Mujica, Activist (Spanish): “A lot of pregnant women, that’s why we are very slow, because we cannot go and risk the lives of so many people who have been imprisoned for years, the only thing that demands two things, freedom and work and justice to be able to get out of this jail that broke a few days ago and they continue slowly towards freedom.”

SOT, Jose Benjamin Chavarria, Migrant (Spanish): “I asked the policeman and he wasn’t already dead, when we all came he was already there.”

SOT, Jose Benjamin Chavarria, Migrant (Spanish): “And as if nothing were the people and the dead man there, it’s weird because they don’t pay attention to him, he’s a human being, as if he were one of us, they don’t. we are going to leave lying, a human person is respected.”
