‘Myanmar Coup Protests: Facebook Shuts Down Military Page After Two Killed in Clashes’

Social media giant Facebook has deleted the Myanmar military’s main page for breaching its standards prohibiting the incitement of violence a day after two anti-coup protesters were killed.

The military has used tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition to deter demonstrators calling for the restoration of democracy and the release of their elected officials, including ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The military has introduced new laws to prohibit demonstrations that could see protesters slapped with lengthy prison sentences and hefty fines.
