‘Myanmar Military Coup Leaders Impose HARSH Penalties for Protesters’

The leaders of Myanmar’s military coup have introduced new laws that could see demonstrators who obstruct troops sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The legal changes, which will also punish those who spread “hatred or contempt” for the military government, were imposed as armoured vehicles rolled into many major cities.
The increased military presence, draconian laws, and heightened tensions between soldiers and protesters could indicate a potential crackdown as the internet was shutdown overnight.
Demonstrators are demanding the restoration of democracy and the release of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi from detention.
