‘Myanmar Military Coup Leaders Blame Protesters as Chinese Factories Set on Fire’

Many Chinese-run factories were vandalised and set on fire in Yangon’s industrial area this week.

The attacks prompted Beijing to demand protection for their property and employees, outraging protesters over China’s apparent indifference to Myanmar’s military crackdown.

Martial law has been declared in some districts in Yangon after Sunday’s bloodshed that saw 38 people killed by the military in the industrial area.

The event sparked controversy as many people in Myanmar suspect that China is supporting the coup, but protesters insist they were not responsible for the attacks on factories.
