Pakistan: Tensions escalate between Pakistan army and local traders at Chaman border

Three people were reportedly wounded and one shot during a clash between local traders and the Pakistan Army at the Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan on Monday.
The border has been an area of conflict since the Taliban’s take over of Kabul in August, with frequent attacks on Pakistani security stations in the area.
Many medium and small traders have lost their jobs as a result of several border closures. The latest closure lasted almost a full month, due to security threats.
Groups of people were seen running away from an imminent threat while flying canisters hit the ground. One local ran towards a smoke grenade, kicking it away.
