UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologised, but vowed to ‘get on with the job’ during Prime Minister’s Question Time in London on Monday after a report found parties at his residence and offices during COVID-19 lockdowns should never have occurred.

“I want to say sorry, and I’m sorry for the things we simply didn’t get right,” said Johnson, adding his administration would have to learn the lessons outlined in the senior civil servant’s report.

“That is why we are making changes now to the way Downing Street and the Cabinet Office run so that we can get on with the job,” the prime minister continued.

Leader of the main opposition Labour Party Keir Starmer said there could be ‘no doubt’ that Johnson is ‘subject to criminal investigation,’ adding that it was time for Johnson to resign.

Scottish National Party leader Ian Blackford, who also demanded Johnson’s resignation, was told to leave the session after he accused the prime minister of misleading parliament. Parliamentary etiquette means lawmakers are not allowed to call each other liars in the chamber.

Civil servant Sue Gray’s inquiry into a series of lockdown parties at Number 10 Down Street was published on Monday, and states there were ‘failures of leadership.’

A Metropolitan Police investigation into the scandal is still ongoing.
