Poland: Police and protesters clash at German-Polish border

Protesters clashed with police in Krosno Odrzanskie on Saturday, near the German-Polish border, after a protest was held outside an migrant detention centre run by the Polish Border Guard.

The protesters, who rallied in support of migrant rights after a group of asylum seekers recently launched a hunger strike at the facility, engaged in tense skirmishes with riot police, who had declared the protest gathering as illegal.

Protesters also marched in the city, while holding banners with slogans such as “solidarity with refugees” and “brick up the authorities”.

According to local reports, at least 11 people were arrested on the day and at least two out of approximately 200 police officers were injured.
