German police continued checks at the German border with Poland in Guben on Friday amid rising numbers of unauthorised border-crossings.

The police could be seen conducting COVID-19 tests on migrants waiting for further processing in the German city located 1km from the Polish border.

For several weeks now, non-EU migrants have been using the route through Belarus and Poland to enter Germany. EU countries accuse Minsk of allowing migrants to come to the country via free tourist visas, and travel onwards to the EU’s external borders to cross into the Union.
