The president has slammed violent Trump supporters involved in the Capitol siege saying they ‘do not represent our country’.

The president came closer than ever to conceding to Joe Biden, promising a “seamless transition of power” as he decried Tuesday’s violence the US Capitol building.

Five people died during the protest as pro-Trump demonstrators clashed Capitol police and media as they attempted to stop certification of the Electoral College vote.

The session resumed six hours later after police regained control of the building.
