Putin on past job as taxi driver

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin admitted he worked as a part-time taxi driver in the 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union during a Moscow-based interview published on Sunday with journalist Andrey Kondrashov.

During the interview, Putin was also questioned on what could have happened had the structural legacy of the Soviet Union broken apart in historical Russia during the 1990s.

“One can say for sure that it would be very bad for us, we wouldn’t be fighting for an increase in birth rates, we’d be fighting for survival,” commented Putin, adding that it would’ve been even bloodier and more violent than the break up of Yugoslavia.
