Around 4,000 military personnel and over 50 ships took part in the Main Naval parade as part of the Navy Day celebration in Saint Petersburg, Sunday.

Footage shows the large landing ship ‘Minsk’, the minesweeper ‘Alexander’, large missile boat ‘Dimitrovgrad’, the guard’s missile cruiser ‘Marshal Ustinov’, and other ships taking part in the event. The Knyaz Vladimir submarine strategic missile cruiser of the Borey-A project was also featured for the first time in the static part of the parade.

Russian President Vladimir Putin observed the Naval Parade as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

At the end of the parade, the naval aviation performed an air show.

Navy Day is marked with military parades all over Russia. The celebration dates back to the Soviet era, having been established in 1939. It was abolished in 1980 but reinstated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2003.
